Application

Prospective Undergraduate Students

Applying as an undergraduate to the OU School of Music is a 2-step process. To apply for any undergraduate music degree program, students must first apply to OU online. Once accepted, students must apply to the School of Music. Auditions are required for application to the School of Music.

See Undergraduate Auditions & Admissions for more information, application deadlines, and audition dates. Students are encouraged to audition in person. However, taped auditions from out-of-state students will be accepted until May 1.

See the Audition & Visiting OU page for more information.

Prospective Graduate Students

Application to any graduate music degree program is a two step process. Students must first apply to the OU graduate college online. Once that process is complete, you can apply to the school of music for your specific degree program. Requirements for the application and audition are specific to the degree program. See Graduate Admissions for more information, application deadlines, and audition dates. Please apply as early as possible to facilitate review of your application materials.

Students are encouraged to audition in person, and in-person interviews for graduate assistant applicants are required. Live interviews are required for graduate assistantships and are routinely scheduled as part of the audition process. Those coming for live auditions should expect to remain on campus all day. Those who would like to be considered for graduate assistantships should schedule an audition prior to February 24, 2018. Applicants should contact Dr. Barbara Fast by email to request information on audition status after January 8.

Doctoral programs in piano pedagogy admit students to begin in fall or summer only. The writing sample for doctoral applicants is an important element in the audition process and must be received with application materials online.

Note that the application deadline is December 1 for full consideration for admission to all graduate piano programs and for funding. Applications materials received after that time will be accommodated if possible. Contact Dr. Barbara Fast regarding extenuating circumstances with late materials and audition availability. It is the candidate's responsibility to see that all application materials including letters of recommendation (uploaded online directly by the writer) are received by the application deadline.
